Paoli Dam is a Bengali actress born on the 4^th of October, 1980. A resident of Golf road, she came into prominence after her stint in the 2009 film Kaalbela directed by Gautam Ghose.  She has had quite a good academic record. Formerly, a student of Loreto school, Bowbazar, she later took up a postgraduate course in chemistry in the reputed Rajabazar science college of the University of Calcutta.

She had started her acting career with the Bengali film Agnipariksha in 2006. But it was Kaalbela in the year 2009 that got her accolades and appreciations from a host of people both at the national and the international level. In fact she was selected for a role in Italo Spinelli’s “Cholli Ke Peeche” thereafter. She was selected from amongst a long list of 28 probables after both Nandan Sen and Shahana Goswami had refused to do the role, citing the reason of excess nudity. Moner Manush and Shob Choritro Kalponik were milestones in her career. The film is based on a story by Mahasweta Devi. She had also received the Shera Bangali awarded given out by Star Ananda in the year 2009. This award is given out to Bengalis who have not only crafted a name for herself but promoted the brand name of Bengal in the international arena. And Paoli Dam had been instrumental in doing so through the medium of films. Of late she has created a stir in the film industry for her full frontal nude scenes in the yet to be released film Chatrak. This film was shown at the Cannes and has taken her to a different level altogether.
